Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD or ADD) is one of the most common mental disorders in children. It is a biological condition that affects the brain and is characterized by lack of attention, distraction, hyperactive and impulsive behavior. ADHD symptoms may well go into teenage and adulthood. It is seen that 3 an 5 percent of school going children in the world have ADHD. 2 million children in the US suffer from ADHD. So in a class of 35 kids, there will be one student who may have this problem. 30 to 70 percent of students or children with ADHD may have this problem right onto their teens and adulthood.

Causes of ADHD:
One cannot pinpoint ADHD reasons but the cause is basically generic and biological in nature. ADHD runs in family. Genes or gene combination can make children susceptible to Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. Early brain injury or trauma that affects normal brain development can also be the reason for ADHD.
Pregnant women who smoke cigarettes or are malnourished or have premature births and obstetrical complication can risk their fetus to ADHD problems.
