Boceprevir is approved for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C genotype 1 infection, along with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin, for people aged 18 and older with compensated liver disease, including cirrhosis, who are formerly untreated or who have failed preceding interferon and ribavirin therapy.
