Missy Eliott suffering from Graves’ Disease

Missy Eliott has been suffering from Graves’ Disease; she revealed in the new issue of the magazine. Graves’s Disease is an autoimmune disorder that affects the thyroid. In Eliott’s case, the 39 year old rap artiste was so debilitating that she couldn’t write or drive a car. She tells PEOPLE magazine, “I couldn’t keep the brake down and almost crashed.”

Missy Eliott revealed that she couldn’t even use a pen. She revealed that she suffered from mood swings, dizzying spells, throat lumps, bulging eyes and hair loss as are the symptoms of Graves’ Disease. She has been undergoing radiation treatments to help her cope with the symptoms of this incurable disease and has also done exercise which helped her shed 30 pounds. Missy Eliott says, “My thyroid is functioning, so I haven’t had to take medication in about nine months. But you live with it for the rest of your life.”

Missy Eliott has record sales of more than seven million in the US, she is the only female rapper to have had six albums certified as platinum by RIAA. Some of her best tracks include ‘Lose Control’, ‘Pass that Dutch’, ‘Get Ur Freak On’ , ‘The Rain (Supa Dupa Fry), ‘Hot Boyz’ She is also a song writer and producer.

The singer has a phobia of giving birth though she is keen to start a family. “I don’t know if I can take that kind of pain [of labor]. Maybe in the year 2020 you could just pop a baby out and it’d be fine. But right now I’d rather just adopt.,” she said.
