Considering the side effects of Ortho Evra and the fact that it releases 60 percent more estrogen and progestin into the blood stream compared to oral contraceptive and the fact that there have been 23 recorded deaths since 2002, it is better for individuals and doctors to make the right choice.

Though Ortho Evra recall has no official decision taken into effect,  the FDA has asked the company Ortho McNeil to go for a label change that makes the women aware of what risks they are in for, while taking the patch. So, if you are someone who has suffered a heart attack, blood clot or stroke or even suffer from side-effects of Ortho Evra, discontinue the patch.

Ortho Evra Recall Possible?

The Ortho Evra  is the most popular birth control patch, having received FDA approval in November 2001. Though blood clots are  a risk with all hormonal contraception, it is still not so common for  women under 35 years of age. So, if there is news about stroke, heart attacks and blood clots in women with Ortho Evra, then it should not be used by women who have characteristic risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, clotting disorders, stroke, smoking and heart attack history in the family.

The most common reason for death due to Ortho Evra has been blood clots, amounting to 12 percent cases while the rest are related to heart attacks and deaths. You can read about Ortho Evra lawsuits.
