The Best Exercise to Lose Belly Fat
The best exercise to lose belly fat is aerobic exercise; it is even more effective than resistance training, according to experts. This is the evaluation of the 8 month study that compared to how aerobic exercise like jogging contributed to the health of the person compared to resistance training like weight lifting or a combination of these activites in people aged between 18 and 70
The people who participated in the aerobic exercises did 12 miles of jogging per week at the heat rate beating maximum to 80 percent while the ones who did weight training did 3 sets of 8 to 12 repetitions per week.
The Duke University Medical Center evaluated how these two forms of exercise shed the fat creeps within internal organs. This type of fat also known as visceral and liver fat can cause heat diseases, diabetes and certain forms of cancers.
Aerobic exercise considerably reduced visceral and liver fat and strengthened the functioning of the heart, prevented diabetes by boosting insulin resistance and stimulated the liver to function better. . Aerobic exercise along with resistance training achieved more or less the same result a aerobic exercise alone, the investigators deduced.
“Resistance training is great for improving strength and increasing lean body mass,” lead author and exercise physiologist Cris Slentz said in a Duke news release. “But if you are overweight, which two-thirds of the population is, and you want to lose belly fat, aerobic exercise is the better choice because it burns more calories.”
Overall, aerobic exercise burned 67 percent more calories than weight or resistance training, according to researchers. This study has been put forth in the Aug. 25 issue of the American Journal of Physiology.
